Having trouble finding current linkable content for your blog? Set up a Google Alert. Click on "more" near the Google search box and you will find Alerts at the top of the list. Just follow the instructions to set up your daily alert for your blog’s topic. For example, for my blog, Career Chaos, that focuses on radical career change, I have Google Alerts set up for the following keywords: career change and employment trends.

Go to Yahoo! to create your "My Yahoo" page. Read the instructions on how to subscribe to your favorite blogs. Set up your subscriptions so they update regularly to your "My Yahoo" page. This will shorten your search time to find your blogs each time you want to post.

If you’re reading this blog, perhaps you’re thinking about creating your own. How do you do it? Get familiar with this new technology. Start by reading the weblogs of others to learn 1) what a blog is, 2) what format and style you like, and 3) what kind of blogs your competitors have.

Do some keyword searching in Google to find a few blogs that potential clients in your niche read. Type blog + your niche into the Google search box. You’ll be amazed at the results.

Then, just take the plunge and post your professional comments on any blog you feel knowledgeable about. Be sure to include your email address and website (if you have one). You’ll probably find that it’s easier to comment on posts with career-related content.
