Need an article fast - something new? Take a look at your past presentations. Did you a find a topic that will work? Great! Just rewrite the presentation into an article format. And while you’re at it, how can you convert this presentation into a teleclass that you can deliver to your target market?
As a solo-preneur, it’s important to make the best use of your time by reworking your material whenever possible into the format you need now.
Whenever I coach career coaches on starting their own businesses, I hear them lament, "This marketing thing is too overwhelming! How can I ever get good at all the stuff I have to do?"
Yes, there’s a lot to do, but getting it all organized is the key to success. Take note - every marketing activity can be categorized under one of the following tags: Presentation, Publication, Networking, or Web Presence. Think about it. If you can come up with something you can’t categorize accordingly, let me know.
Now, look at the marketing activities you like to do and those you don’t. On a large piece of paper, make four columns. Head each column with one of the four marketing tags. List your "likes" under their appropriate headings.
This is a start to organizing your marketing plan! Your biggest challenge at this point should be finding something to list under each heading as all four categories are necessary for a well-balanced, strategic plan.
When attending a networking event:
Instead, get to know one - that’s right, one - person well enough so that you want to get to know him better. Schedule a time to reconnect for coffee or lunch in the near future. This strategy will help you build lasting relationships which is the real objective of networking.

Time to publish your articles - but where? Identify the publications that your target markets read and send them your contributions. The best return for your effort will come from publishing for your niche readership.
How do you identify the publications? Do Google keyword searches. Type "submit article" plus your article category into the search box. Then screen the results for your niche.
For example:
When you publish your article, include a brief bio that includes your email address or website so readers may contact you. Website address wins over email address, especially when publishing online, as this hyperlink will help boost your website ranking in the search engines.
Whatever name you choose for your URL, write it out before actually purchasing it. Consider what it looks like when written all together as one word.

Before launching a career coaching business, you have to claim your niche! This is the single most important thing you will do to start a profitable career coaching business. Once you know exactly who your ideal potential clients are, the faster you will enroll them and begin doing the thing you most enjoy - coaching!

Hard to believe? A lot of career coaches set their businesses up to fail when they try to be "open" to coaching anyone. A potential client will choose the coach they believe can best identify with their "unique" situation. This can only happen when you take a stand and promote your services to a narrow target group.
